The Under 14 Netball team from Stockport Grammar has had a fantastic start to 2020 after qualifying for the National Schools Finals in March.

The girls won their group in the Regional Finals – which contained The Grange School, Sedbergh School, Scarisbrick Hall School and St Wilfrid’s Church of England Academy. They then went on to defeat Wirral Grammar School for Girls 10-8.

SGS’s Head of Girls’ Games, Mrs Laura Goddard said: “We are delighted and very proud of this amazing achievement by the girls.”

It’s been a successful start to the year across the sports at SGS with pupils throughout the school putting in inspiring performances and achieving impressive cup progression.

The Under 15 rugby and hockey teams have both reached the Quarter Final stages of national competitions.

The Under 15 rugby players have progressed to the Quarter Finals after playing strongly against the Queen Elizabeth Grammar School side, in the North ‘A’ Final of the National Cup.

The Under 15 hockey team are through to the Quarter Finals of the Independent National Plate after seeing off Stonyhurst College in a hard-fought Round Two tie.
