As the Summer Term drew to a close and parents sent in messages congratulating Bolton School on how well it had made the transition to virtual learning, there was also reflection on how much had been contributed to the local community.
Senior Girls produced 557 visors for local hospitals, GPs and care homes. Junior Boys contributed a further 150 visors and 250 visor headbands. Zain Khan from Y6, developed cleanable and adjustable ear relievers which were gratefully received by staff at East Lancs NHS Trust.
In writing a poem for her grandparents, who she was missing, Y8 pupil Poppy-Grace Stebbings gave hope and inspiration to people around the world as her work went viral.
Whilst infants sent beautiful postcards to local residents, staff performed in the video for Peter Kay’s ‘Amarillo’ as part of the Big Night In, which raised funds for the NHS. Senior Boys’ Beekeeping Club donated jars of honey to food packages for those families most in need during the Covid-19 crisis.
