Sajna is located on Barlow Moor Road, Didsbury. It was taken over by the current owner five months ago, and not on our radar until recently. But following an email from the new owner, how could we resist? And it was Manchester Derby night, after all.
To be honest we much prefer to relax in a restaurant, but there was no way my family would leave the house whilst the football was on, so we sat down and perused the menu on the new Sajna website. We were hungry and there are five of us, so we ordered the Sajna Mix Grill Starter, which is a combination of chicken tikka, lamb tikka, tandoori chicken, lamb chop and seekh kebab. This was ample for two, possibly three, and a portion of Lamb Chops Tikka, which consisted of three pieces. The meat was nice and tender, the salad was lovely and fresh and the obligatory yoghurt and chilli sauces are always a welcome addition to an Indian starter.
For mains we ordered Chicken Naga, which is very hot, prepared with hot naga pickle and green chillies, onion, capsicum, garnished with fresh coriander. A new favourite of mine – I love hot food. A King Prawn Chilli with excellent, decent sized, succulent prawns – very tasty indeed. Lamb Saag, a wonderful combination of pureed spinach and spring lamb, flavoured with roasted cumin seeds, methi and oriental spices, which was delightful. And we always order a Dal dish, (lentils) which was nice and thickin consistency. The Chilli Nan and Plain Nan breads didn’t disappoint either.
Sajna say they use top quality meat, fresh vegetables, no artificial colours or flavours, and free from excessive oil – I can’t disagree with that.
I called Sajna to order and they were very professional upon answering. I received a text saying the food was on its way. The driver rang ahead, and the food was packed carefully with no spillages.
All in all an excellent experience with delicious food, great value for money and well worth a visit. We will definitely be back.
