JAMELIA HEADS BACK TO SCHOOL TO LAUNCH KELLOGG’S BREAKFAST CLUB AWARDS IN STOCKPORT
A primary school in Stockport recently welcomed a special school pupil to its breakfast club in the form of TV personality and noughties popstar Jamelia Davis.
Launching the Kellogg’s Breakfast Club Awards, the Loose Woman joined school kids at St Bernadette’s Primary School, in Brinnington, for breakfast as they kicked off the new school year.
Encouraging entries to this year’s awards, the noughties popstar discussed the benefits of school breakfast clubs and told of her own experience attending as a child.
Mum-of-three, Jamelia, 37, said: “Growing up breakfast club was a key part of our family life and was a great driver in growing my confidence as a child. My mother was a single, working parent therefore breakfast club proved support and enabled her to go back to work – while ensuring I had the best start to the day. It is fantastic to be launching the Kellogg’s Breakfast club awards, an event dedicated to celebrating the wonderful, and inspiring, work that goes on in breakfast clubs up and down the country.”
Schools in Greater Manchester are invited to enter the annual Kellogg’s Breakfast Club Awards as one club from the North West will win a £1,000 cash prize and be invited to attend an awards ceremony in The Houses of Parliament.
Ms Sinead Jones, Head Teacher at St Bernadette’s Catholic Primary School in Stockport, said: “We were thrilled to have Jamelia be a part of our breakfast club for the morning and the children couldn’t wait to show her all the fun things they get up to before the start of the school day. Breakfast club enables us to provide the best start to the day for our pupils and we’ll be keeping our fingers crossed for St Bernadette’s after entering this year’s 20th Anniversary Breakfast Club Awards.”
