Pizza and cocktails pair perfectly with the latest addition to the lively Alderley Edge restaurant scene in the heart of Cheshire.

Les Deux restaurant, also known as ‘The pizza bar with the little pink door’, has taken a slice of the busy neighbourhood in Alderley Edge with its lively food and drink scene. The new establishment, which opened in December, is bringing a playful and vibrant menu with a relaxed eclectic atmosphere inspired by many influences from around the world.

There’s mouthwatering pizzas, sharers and sides. There’s classic cocktails as well as some European & Latino inspired new ones to try. The restaurant duo behind Les Deux want to bring a casual independent vibe to Cheshire and make the latest offering on London Road somewhere to eat, drink and dance.

Mathieu Everson and Sax Arshad are the faces behind the pizza & cocktail combo. Combined they have over 20 years of experience in the hospitality industry and have independently worked with brands such as Mughli and Evelyns and The Daisy in Manchester’s Northern Quarter. Mathieu (from Corisican heritage) grew up with his family’s traditional Corsican cooking, which has a Moroccan influence including a love for spices, mixes and marinades, and slow cooked meats, and this has had a strong influence on the menu for Les Deux. Sax, as the owner of already successful neighborhood hospitality brands, brings his experience and strong passion for being an independent in a busy restaurant scene.

Mathieu said: “From our travels and background we’ve drawn up a menu with global influence to suit all tastes. We have a range of classics but then also a global section, which includes options like wagyu beef salami, crème fraiche and salsa verde, peach and lavender with speck to sticky beef and truffle.”

Sax added: “It’s about getting everyone involved and as an independent we can offer a relaxed and bespoke atmosphere.”

The menu combines classic pizza alongside some interesting new combinations that will be sure to entice foodies from across Cheshire and beyond. Ingredients are fresh and locally sourced, including an array of fresh meat from local village butchers. The dough is naturally fermented for 48 hours, making it airy and light and the perfect base for some of the delicious toppings on the menu.

The ‘must trys’ on the Les Deux menu include:

  • Truffle Shuffle, (truffle pesto injected burrata sharer)
  • Peachy (for those that love fruit on a pizza, there’s peaches instead of pineapple) – Inspired by Mathieu’s granny, he wanted to bring similar concepts to the menu that he grew up eating such as melon and ham, cheese and figs.
  • Wag Gwaan (Wagyu beef salami pizza)
  • Sweet Vegan, (sweet potato puree base, heritage tomatoes)
  • Tarte au Citron Meringuée

With a cosy informal vibe, the Les Deux restaurant and bar on London Road is already enjoying interest from Alderley Edge locals.

Mathieu added: “We want to be different. We want people to come as they are, be it in a hoodie or a LBD. No matter what, there’s amazing pizza to eat,  even better cocktails to drink, and top  music to dance to.”
