After ten rounds of round robin and five knockout matches in the space of a week, twins Justin and Jason Hackett won Gold in the European Transnational Open Teams Championship held in Istanbul.

This success –the first European Championship win by a British Team since 1991 –completes an amazing story of International success for the Didsbury based Hackett family who have now won Gold at every level of the game-Open, Junior, Seniors and Women’s. Back in 1994 Jason and Justin, at the age of 24, won Gold in the European Junior Bridge Championships.

The following year they won Gold in the World Junior Bridge Championships in Bali.

Justin’s wife Barbara, won the World Women’s Championship in Paris shortly after they married in September 2001. Father, Paul Hackett , a long time bridge professional, became the last member of the family to win a World title when in 2009 he won the Seniors World Team Championship in Sao Paulo.He then went on to win a second Seniors World title the following year in Philadelphia and a European Seniors Championship Gold in Croatia in 2014. All the Hackett family including mother Olivia play regularly in the Manchester Bridge Club and the local Manchester league.
