New event for Cheshire members

The Cheshire men’s and women’s unions joined forces three years ago to launch the first Mixed Pairs Final for club champions at Vale Royal Abbey GC and it proved to be a great success with entries growing in the second year.

Clubs are invited to send their chosen mixed pairs to participate again in this year’s final which will again be at Vale Royal Abbey on Sunday October 8 and entry details etc have been sent to all member clubs.

Now Cheshire are launching another inaugural competition, believed to be the first of its kind in the UK with a nine-hole championship being staged at the magnificent venue of Alderley Edge GC.

It will take place on August 31 and will be an all-inclusive singles Stableford competition for men, ladies and juniors from all Cheshire member clubs who have Congu handicaps.

Cheshire Union secretary Steve Foster said: “We are delighted to stage this inaugural and unique competition and have had great help from all at Alderley Edge in arranging the event.

To enter check out the Cheshire Union website – www.cheshiregolf.org.uk. Also, in 2017 we will not be issuing our annual booklet for the first time so that again for entry to all county competitions and to trace records etc members will need to check out the website.”
