Knowsley Hall’s Exquisite Evenings

This is possibly the grandest invite for dinner we have ever received, ‘The Earl & Countess of Derby invite you into their home to experience the gastronomic delights of their executive chef Paul Macnish.’ Sold! A great excuse to get dressed up in our finery, we were excited to visit Knowsley Hall. The drive up to the home is stunning. All lit up by candles, the driveway is a spectacle in itself. The home is imposing but welcoming.

We were shown into the drawing room where we were greeted with champagne and canapes while we tried to take in our surroundings. Family photos of The Queen are dotted around the room, we felt we really were somewhere special.

As we made our way through to the formal dining room, where The Queen herself has dined, the grandeur of the room took our breath away. Executive chef Paul Macnish was on hand to welcome us and our sommelier from Boutinot Wine Merchants was there to talk us through the wines.
The menu was a feast for the eyes as well as the taste buds. Australian chef Paul has pulled out all the stops to ensure we were wowed.

Our five course menu was a culinary delight with a take on ‘Fish and Chips’ we will never forget.

But the showstopper had to be dessert. Called ‘The Fairground’, dessert consisted of white chocolate and rose donuts, salted caramel, candy floss and violet sherbert. A collective ‘wow’ was heard from around the room.

Knowsley Hall will be hosting ‘Exquisite Evenings’ throughout the year and it is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy a beautiful stately home and imagine just for one day, that you are in fact, Lord of The Manor.

The price is just £95 per person for a five course menu and matched wines.
