Renowned British mixed media artist JJ Adams will return to his roots later this month as he brings his latest exhibition “In Key” to Manchester, including five never-before-seen pieces.
The famously iconoclastic Adams will display a collection of both traditional and digital artworks throughout Club Brass, the rooftop member’s area at the summit of Hotel Gotham, with several pieces exclusively for sale at the event.
Alongside exhibiting his works to a range of collectors, Adams will be in attendance on the opening night of September 27th. The event has been facilitated by Generation Gallery and will also host a live tattooist, Sean Kirby of Harry Flashman’s (www.harryflashmans.com/), who will be inking a selection of competition winners with a range of exclusive designs, created and signed by Adams himself.
The exhibition will mark something of a homecoming for JJ Adams himself, who originally left Manchester at the age of five, living in the South West of England and South Africa, before returning to London where he now keeps a studio. A finalist for the 2016 Fine Art Trade Guild’s “Best Selling Published Artist Award”, Adams’ work has been featured in Vogue and GQ Magazines, while his impressive list of clients includes Rolls Royce and Bang & Olufsen.
Known for his transformative images of celebrities and cultural icons, as well as a defiantly rebellious, yet thought-provoking streak, Adams delights in blurring the boundaries between traditional and digital mediums, and is equally comfortable working with canvas as he is manipulating photography or utilising digital software.
Adams commented: “I am thrilled both to be coming back to Manchester and the North West, as well as to be partnering with Hotel Gotham to unveil my newest collection of work, In Key. It’s a fantastic space, at the head of one of the city’s best buildings, and will provide a perfect background to showcase my latest creations.”
Mario Ovsenjak, General Manager of Hotel Gotham added: “We are extremely proud to be partnering and hosting JJ Adams’s exciting new exhibition. We are avid followers of the British art scene, particularly those figures with ties to the North West, and jumped at the chance to host his return to the region.”
The Opening Night of In Key will be held on September 27th at Hotel Gotham, with a limited run of tickets available via firstname.lastname@example.org
