Marple Golf Club professional Jimmy Lister, who began his golf as junior at Denton and completed his PGA course there then enjoying being the professional at Oldham GC before moving to his present post at Marple.

Along with the members Jimmy has enjoyed taking a full part in the club’s 125th year anniversary celebrations.

Jimmy decided to celebrate the anniversary by playing 125 holes in a single day and to also raise money for the British Heart Foundation.

Jimmy said: “I started at 4.30am and finished just after 5pm and although I recorded a few of my early scores it didn’t last throughout the day. I would like to thank the Captain and all of the club members for their support, caddying, ball spotting etc and for all of their donations. It became quite painful as the day went on with very sore feet, aching back and muscles toward the end of the challenge but I was delighted to complete it so quickly and I will soon recover.”
