My Christmas break got off to a flying start when I slipped on the ice in and broke my wrist. I’d like to say a huge thank you to the gentleman who very kindly picked me up. One minute I’m going for a nice lunch and 30 minutes later I was in hospital getting a plaster cast, which just goes to show - we don’t know what’s around the corner. This year I’m going to beat the ice and get my Christmas shopping done early. It was a bit frustrating, but it’s amazing what you can do with one hand, a shopping trolley and collect by car!
I always start the new year full of enthusiasm, but that incident made me even more determined to get off to a great start in all directions. I ditched the new year’s resolutions after listening to someone on the radio, saying that you don’t need to start them on 1 January, which sounded good to me. So my resolutions will start on 1 February, once I’ve put all my decorations away, recycled my tree and sent this magazine to print. And I’m going to have a perfect year and dodge everything that tries to get in my way.
Our Christmas Ball was a huge success and we managed to raise £5,005 for Francis House. Thank you to everyone who came and enjoyed the evening with us, and to all of the local businesses for donating prizes for our raffle and auction. We are already looking at venues to host this year’s Christmas Ball, so if you have any ideas please send me an email.
We also have some free events on this year’s calendar, so register your interest by emailing us – just type EVENTS in the subject field.
Enjoy this issue and keep sending your news, views and comments – I love to hear from you.
