Manchester photographer marks homecoming with Hotel Gotham exhibition
Five-star hotel will host photographer Tom Fraud’s homecoming to the city with an exclusive launch.
Hotel Gotham is set to host internationally renowned photographer Tom Fraud’s Manchester homecoming, with an art exhibition launch.
The King Street-based hotel will hold the invite-only event at its rooftop bar, Club Brass, on Thursday 13 April, giving attendees a chance to preview the provocative and seductive ‘Red’ collection.
Having spent the past eight years working across the globe, the Manchester-born photographer will showcase the unique 18-print collection for 30 days at the five-star hotel.
Now, Tom is calling on the city to back his latest project, which was shot in one of the hotel’s ‘inner sanctum’ suites.
I’m immensely proud to be returning to my roots in Manchester and to be joining forces with Gotham, which has become known in the city for its unique character and personality. Being known for a specific type of photography makes me feel claustrophobic. There is so much of the same out there these days, so it’s hard to be ‘different’. Shooting this raw, with no Photoshop, allowed me to free myself and create something unique to me.”
As part of the launch, Tom will enlist the help of budding photographers from the University of Salford, inviting a team of students to help him capture the evening on camera. Featuring music from Danny Whitehead, exclusive tours of the hotel and a glass of fizz on arrival, the event offers attendees the chance to purchase a signed print to take home.
Hotel Gotham general manager, Mario Ovsenjak, said: “We are thrilled to welcome Tom and his ‘Red’ collection to Gotham. He’s a real Mancunian success story and we’re proud to cement ourselves as a hub for the city’s culture and art. We’re looking forward to showcasing Tom’s talent to Manchester – and beyond – and are looking forward to an exciting future together.”
