Northenden Golf Club has hosted the Norton Barrie Charity Golf Day for the past nine years to raise funds for The Christie Cancer Charity and it continues to grow with great success.

It is organised by Northenden member Blake Norton in memory of his father Barrie Norton.

Blake said:

“This year we raised a fabulous £12,000 and it takes the total raised to date to £70,000.

We had a field of 208 golfers enjoying a double shotgun competition including soccer stars such as Andrew Cole and Clayton Blackmore as well as county players and it was an exceptional effort by all involved in organising the day.

Next year we are planning a ‘Big Ten’ and it may be a two-day event with a big gala dinner at the end of the second day.

I would like to say a massive thank- you to Northenden Golf Club, all the players who have helped to support me but a special mention needs to go to Hugo Boss for supporting with polo shirts for all players and helpers.

This year we had TESLA cars as sponsors and they could not have been any more generous in what they offered and how much they all helped to raise funds for the The Christie Camcer charity on the day.”
