Abbey College Manchester business leaders of the future were recently given an invaluable insight from Marcello Distefano, Managing Director of San Carlo.

As MD of the largest family-owned restaurant group in the UK, Marcello took valuable time to attend the college and engage with students in an inspirational visit.

Marcello was welcomed into the college with a guided tour, particularly focused on the business classrooms and creative spaces, bringing back fond memories for him.

The business students received an entertaining talk discussing the origins and history of the group, and the brands. Marcello additionally discussed the success of the organisation, its current operations and gave some exclusive hints to future plans before taking any questions.

To thank the esteemed businessman for his time, a gift was presented by student Helia Hafizi (21).

College Principal Liz Elam commented: “Marcello’s visit to the college was inspiring and it was a great opportunity for our students to learn from him. The talk that he delivered struck the perfect balance and was exceptionally well received by all. This is a fantastic link for the college and one that will hopefully be developed further in the future.”

Abbey College is a leading independent college in the heart of Manchester, with a fast-growing and vibrant community.

There are around 210 students at the college, comprising a mix of students from the local area and other countries. The college offers A-Level, GCSE and International Foundation Programmes.
